Job summary

Crusader Group Limited in North Tyneside is seeking a full-time Fire and Security Engineer to maintain fire detection, alarm and security systems on client sites. You will conduct inspections, diagnose faults, perform repairs and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.

You will also document work, advise clients on best practices, and coordinate with colleagues to deliver safe solutions on site. This role may require occasional on-call duties and travel within the North East.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in cybersecurity principles applied to fire and security systems.
• Experience with network security and security devices in commercial environments.
• Knowledge of application security related to monitoring platforms and software.
• Hands-on experience installing, servicing and fault-finding alarms, CCTV and access control.
• Familiarity with BS 5839, BS 7671 and NSI/SSAIB standards and regulations.
• Ability to read drawings and manuals with attention to safety and detail.
• Excellent problem-solving and clear client communication, on-site capable.
• Willingness to travel locally across the North East; driving licence essential.

Responsibilities

Role Description

This full-time, on-site Fire and Security Engineer role is based in North Tyneside. The engineer will maintain fire detection and alarm systems, as well as security systems such as CCTV, access control, and intruder alarms. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting regular inspections, performing fault diagnosis, completing repairs, and ensuring all systems meet relevant safety standards and regulations. The role also involves producing accurate documentation, advising clients on best practices, and collaborating with colleagues to deliver safe and compliant solutions. Occasional emergency call-outs and participation in scheduled on-call rotas may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in cybersecurity principles, including Cybersecurity and Information Security, applied to modern fire and security systems.
• Experience with Network Security and Security Engineering, particularly in configuring and maintaining networked fire and security devices.
• Knowledge of Application Security in relation to fire and security management software and cloud-based monitoring platforms.
• Previous experience installing, servicing, and fault-finding fire alarms, emergency lighting, security alarms, CCTV, and access control systems.
• Familiarity with relevant UK fire and security standards and regulations (e.g., BS 5839, BS 7671, NSI/SSAIB standards) is highly beneficial.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and product manuals, with strong attention to detail and safety.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, clear communication with clients and colleagues, and the ability to work independently on-site.
• Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally across the North East; relevant industry certifications or vocational qualifications (e.g., NVQ, FIA training) are an advantage.
