Job summary

Absolute Property Surveys is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Engineer to service, maintain and install fire alarm systems for commercial and domestic sites in the Northwich area. The role also covers emergency lighting installations and timely compliance documentation.

You will work Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with a salary starting at £38,000 DOE and a company pension. A full UK driving licence and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience with both domestic and commercial fire alarm systems, including addressable and conventional types.
  • Installation and replacement work on fire alarms; fault finding knowledge.
  • Experience with emergency lighting systems; BS 5266 knowledge.
  • Ability to produce service reports and documentation accurately.
  • Strong health and safety awareness and policy compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word) and office management.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

Absolute Property Surveys is a leading provider of fire safety compliance services, dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients through comprehensive fire safety solutions. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive fire alarm engineer with an in-depth knowledge of both commercial & domestic fire alarm systems. A dedicated individual is preferred in order to help the company continue to grow and service new and existing client bases.

Job Description:

As a fire alarm engineer, you will be required to service, maintain and at times install fire alarm systems as part of day-to-day activities. Installation & servicing of emergency lighting systems will also be required as part of day-to-day duties.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Administrative tasks such as answering and directing phone calls and emails.
  • Collating and providing evidence to clients and senior team members
  • Organising and scheduling appointments for fire safety inspections and training sessions
  • Maintaining and updating client records and compliance documentation
  • Assisting in the preparation of fire safety reports and compliance certificates
  • Managing office supplies and equipment
  • Coordinating with fire safety inspectors and clients to ensure timely service delivery
  • Handling email correspondence and distributing memos, letters, and reports.
  • Assisting with the preparation of regularly scheduled compliance reports
  • Developing and maintaining a filing system for compliance documentation
  • Providing general administrative support to the team.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years’ proven experience of working on both domestic & commercial fire alarm systems, must have experience of working on both ‘addressable & conventional’ fire alarm systems.
  • Fire alarm experience must include installation work and replacement works. An extensive knowledge of fault finding is required. Good knowledge of BS 5839 parts 1 & 6.
  • Must have at least 3 years of proven experience working with emergency lighting systems and be capable of carrying out installations & replacements of emergency lighting systems. Good knowledge of BS 5266.
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete service reports, certificates, and documentation accurately.
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies at all times.
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Familiarity with fire safety compliance regulations and terminology is a plus.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Salary starting from £38,000 (DOE) with potential for performance related bonus
