Job summary

Apex Fintech Solutions seeks a DevOps Engineer to design, build, and maintain automation for its batch processing platform across client environments. You will migrate run-day scripts into orchestrated pipelines and develop deployment tooling to track versions per environment.

The role blends application and systems engineering with client onboarding support, run-day operations, and cloud automation on AWS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years experience as a developer (Python, Java, shell, etc.).
• Hands-on experience building and operating orchestrated deployment pipelines and production workflows.
• Strong Python and shell scripting (bash) skills.
• Experience with cloud platforms, primarily Amazon Web Services (AWS), and automating against them.
• Experience with Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and managing versions and releases across multiple environments.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• A developer's mindset applied to operations: the ability to see a manual process, understand why it exists, and design something better.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Nice to Have Experience working with Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools.
• Experience automating disaster recovery processes.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Java development experience.
• Background in financial services, brokerage operations, tax reporting, or cost basis processing.

Responsibilities

• Workflow Orchestration: Migrate existing run-day, disaster recovery, and operational scripts into orchestrated deployment pipelines and workflows.
• Design, build, and operate production workflows with clear dependencies, retries, and alerting.
• Script Parameterization: Refactor runtime scripts so they are parameterized, reusable, and environment-agnostic.
• Deployment Management: Build and maintain tooling that tracks build versions across environments and automates deployment and promotion.
• Client Implementations: Support new client onboarding by developing and adapting custom scripts, configuration, and automation.
• Run-Day Operations: Manage processing pipelines and run-day operations; troubleshoot batch failures and provide durable automated fixes.
• Cloud Automation: Build and operate automation on AWS using native CLIs, SDKs, and IaC practices.
• Monitoring and Notifications: Build alerting/notification automation (Slack, email).
• Process Improvement: Propose better solutions to make the platform more scalable and sustainable.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of workflows, runbooks, deployment procedures, and automation standards.
• Collaboration: Work with development, TechOps, and infrastructure teams to streamline code-to-production flow.
