Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is seeking a Production Operative to join a specialist process manufacturing operation, working with rotary kilns, coolers, blending and packaging machinery in a 24/7 environment.

The role involves operating and monitoring plant equipment, following batch specifications, taking samples, recording data, and maintaining safety and housekeeping standards. Shift pattern is 4 on, 4 off (two days, two nights, four off), with weekends and bank holidays as part of the rota.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate rotary kilns, coolers and finishing plant equipment.
• Feed materials into production equipment per batch specs.
• Operate blending and mixing equipment and ensure correct batches.
• Take samples and work with Quality Control.
• Monitor temperatures, conditions and process parameters.
• Record production information and batch details.
• Inspect plant and equipment regularly.
• Report faults or anomalies or production issues.
• Monitor silo levels and ensure material availability.
• Inspect screening equipment.
• Prepare packaging materials and label products.
• Operate forklift trucks as required.
• Support safe product discharge and movement in the area.
• Monitor dust extraction and LEV systems.
• Maintain housekeeping standards.
• Collaborate with Production Supervisors and Quality.
• Support continuous improvement in Safety, Quality and Productivity.

Production Operative - Finishing Plant

Permanent | £37,503.45 per annum

4 on, 4 off - 12-hour shifts | 2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 Off

24/7 Manufacturing Environment

296 hours annual leave including bank holiday allowance

We are looking for an experienced Production Operative to join a specialist process manufacturing operation.

This is a hands‑on position working directly with critical production equipment, including rotary kilns, coolers, blending and mixing equipment, screening systems, conveyors and packaging machinery.

The site operates 24/7, with employees working a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern consisting of two day shifts followed by two night shifts and four days off.

The processes and equipment used on site are specialist, so full training will be provided. Previous experience operating machinery, monitoring manufacturing processes or working within an industrial production environment will give you an excellent foundation for the role.

The Role

Working as part of the production team, you will be responsible for safely operating and monitoring plant equipment while ensuring products are manufactured consistently to the required quality and specification.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating and monitoring rotary kilns, coolers and associated finishing plant equipment
• Preparing and feeding materials into production equipment in line with batch specifications and production schedules
• Operating blending and mixing equipment and ensuring batches are processed correctly
• Taking representative samples and working with Quality Control to ensure products meet required standards
• Monitoring plant temperatures, operating conditions and process parameters
• Accurately recording production information, meter readings and batch details
• Carrying out routine plant and equipment inspections
• Identifying and reporting equipment faults, abnormalities or production issuesMonitoring silo levels and ensuring sufficient materials are available to maintain production
• Inspecting and maintaining screening equipment
• Preparing packaging materials and ensuring products are correctly labelled and identified
• Operating forklift trucks as required
• Supporting safe product discharge and movement around the production area
• Monitoring dust extraction and Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems
• Maintaining excellent standards of housekeeping across the plant
• Working closely with Production Supervisors, Quality and other departments to maintain efficient production
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across Safety, Quality and Productivity

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Previous experience within manufacturing, process production or an industrial environment
• Experience operating or monitoring production machinery or process plant
• Forklift truck experience
• Good understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment
• Ability to follow operating procedures, production instructions and batch specifications
• Strong attention to detail, particularly around product quality and process conditions
• Ability to recognise and report equipment faults or unusual operating conditions
• Ability to accurately complete production and process documentation
• Comfortable working within a physically active, hands‑on environment
• Willing and able to work a 24/7 rotating shift pattern
• Reliable, safety‑conscious and able to work effectively as part of a team

Shift Pattern
