Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) is seeking a Financial Wellbeing and Energy Advice Advisor to support families of children with life-shortening conditions. Based in Aberdeen or Inverness, the role combines one-to-one support with welfare benefits, energy advice and money guidance, including home visits and diary management.
Hybrid working with travel across Grampian and Highland regions; travel to family homes is core.
Caring for a child with a life-shortening condition can bring unexpected financial pressures, including higher care and energy costs and changes to a family’s income. In this role, you will provide practical, compassionate advice that helps families understand their options and maximise the money available to them. You will join CHAS’s supportive and experienced Financial Wellbeing and Energy Advice Team, working primarily with teams in Aberdeen and Inverness and alongside Family Support Teams across CHAS. The team achieved more than £1.7 million in financial gains for CHAS families last year. Funded through a grant from Scottish Gas Network (SGN), this post will extend financial wellbeing and energy advice for families in the Grampian and Highland regions. This is a temporary role, currently funded until 30 September 2028.
You will work directly with families of children with life-shortening conditions, providing one-to-one support across income maximisation, welfare benefits, money advice and energy advice. This is a hybrid role, with a requirement to work from your Aberdeen or Inverness base one day each week. You will also undertake home visits and manage your own diary, giving you the flexibility to plan your workload around the needs of families and the service.
To be successful in this role, you will bring practical advice skills, sound judgement and a family‑centred approach. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
At CHAS, we support families during the toughest of times. Our ambition is to reach every family in Scotland who is living with the heart‑breaking prognosis that their child is dying, offering care and support that helps families make the most of their precious time together. CHAS provides support through Rachel House and Robin House, outreach services in homes, hospitals and communities across Scotland, and partnership working with Scotland’s three children’s hospitals.
