Financial Risk is made up of 4 teams, including Traded & Quantitative Risk where we look for people with a slightly different skillset, ideally coming from a STEM background.
In TQR, we help investment banks, commercial banks, and other financial firms manage their risks and capital. We build and check models that measure the market risk and the impact of borrowers not paying back loans. We also help them design, improve, and fix their risk models, apply for exceptions to regulations, and support with new regulation requirements.
You must be in the penultimate year of your course, or going onto a Master’s degree and need to be on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in a Mathematics, Economics, Finance or Quantitative Finance related degree discipline.
We have identified 10 core skills that are essential to all our roles in Early Careers. To learn more about these skills and their detailed descriptions, please visit the 'Discover What We Look For' section in our Candidate Zone.
As part of our Financial Risk team, you’ll gain experience across a range of areas and work directly with clients on major financial projects.
Our clients range from global and boutique banks to insurers and investment managers. You’ll collaborate with Deloitte colleagues and clients across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and other European countries, helping you build a broad international network. You may also contribute to projects delivered alongside Deloitte member firms across Europe.
We also have a growing portfolio of solutions and other services that use artificial intelligence, robotics, and digitisation to do more for less, and more accurately. This means you will be able to get involved with our most innovative propositions and experience first-hand how Deloitte is at the forefront of change in the financial risk.
At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events.
All our work spaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team. You can find further information on our parent and carer policies here.
When you join the programme, you’ll become part of a supportive community of colleagues who, like you, are at the start of their careers. Your journey will begin with a comprehensive induction, designed to equip you with the skills and confidence you need to work with our clients. Throughout the programme, you’ll continue to develop through hands‑on experience with your project team, alongside ongoing mentoring and support from your dedicated buddy.
