Job summary

Shelter is seeking a Financial Resilience Adviser to deliver debt, housing and welfare benefits advice and advocacy. The role focuses on safeguarding and equality policies while managing a caseload and engaging with local partners to drive housing justice.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience delivering debt advice and housing/welfare benefits advice in line with current legislation.
• Experience supporting people with multiple disadvantages.
• Ability to manage caseloads and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills; proficient with IT systems to record data.
• Adherence to safeguarding, anti-racism goals and Equality and Diversity policies.

Salary: Grade 3 - £32,585 per annum plus £5,023 London Weighting if applicable

Contract: Fixed term until 23rd April 2028

Location: Either London or Sheffield

Hours: 35 per week – Full time

About The Role

Delivering advice and advocacy in a variety of community settings, you will provide casework on debt, along with housing and welfare benefits, ensuring that quality assurance and standards are met in all areas and that you keep your own knowledge up to date. Identifying systemic issues by gathering evidence and developing insight will be crucial to bringing about the change we need, as well as working with a variety of stakeholders, building relationships locally and working collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes.

About You

• You have demonstrable experience of providing debt advice and related advice on housing and welfare, in line with current legislation
• Experience supporting people with multiple disadvantages.
• You are able to manage your caseload and meet deadlines
• You have effective communication skills and technical skills, using IT programmes to communicate and record client data.
• Everything you do will be in line with safeguarding procedures, our anti – racism goals and Equality and Diversity policies and practices.

This role will be part of our ongoing work with our Hero Partner which aims to build financial resilience and break the cycles that lead to financial exclusion and poor financial health negatively impacting people’s housing situations. With the ongoing cost of living crisis, we provide support to people in financial crisis and build resilience in the most vulnerable communities.
