Shelter Cymru is seeking a Housing Law Caseworker in North East Wales, based in Wrexham. The role involves delivering housing advice through face-to-face surgeries and courts, and providing support at housing possession help desks across the region.

A hybrid working pattern is available, with initial on-site induction and potential home working thereafter. The post is a 35-hour week contract until 31 August 2028, with a salary of £29,561 per annum and a comprehensive benefits package.

Job Information:

An exciting opportunity has now arisen at Shelter Cymru for a Housing Law Caseworker who will work within our Housing Services team based in our Wrexham office.

The post holder will be part of a team who provide a National Housing Advice Service. In this role advice will be delivered primarily to regular face-to-face surgeries, housing possession help desks in courts in North East Wales and on occasion remotely.

The post holder will be office based/work out of one of our North East Wales Office(Wrexham) during the induction period, with some flexibility to work from home, subject to line manager’s approval. Following a successful induction, the post holder may choose to work part of the week from home.

Time off

• 29 days annual leave plus 2 Shelter Cymru days and public holidays (pro-rata for part-time staff and those joining part-way through the year).

• Hybrid working - We are developing a flexible and hybrid working approach for all staff, with a minimum of 1 day per week working in the office and have offices across Wales (Cardiff, Swansea, Rhyl, Felinheli and Wrexham) and employees are provided with an office base.
• Workplace counsellor - Our workplace counsellor provides various support to Shelter Cymru Staff including Induction training and information on the Intranet on maintaining good mental health and frontline workers have access to bi-monthly peer support and reflective practice groups, facilitated by the workplace counsellor. Frontline Workers can also access 121 counselling sessions.
• Employee Assistance Programme to help staff to deal with personal problems that might impact on work performance, health and wellbeing. The programme offers a wide range of support, including online resources, counselling, legal & financial support and referral services.
• Shelter Cymru operates a contributory pension scheme – employer contribution 4.25% and 5% employee contribution.
