Job description

Finance in Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) consists of circa 100 FTE and has a number of key roles:

To partner the business to enhance decision making with a focus on strategy, planning, analysis and reporting. Support is provided to the LII exec, LII regions - UK&MENA, Europe, APAC and LATAM&US - and also to the supporting functions within LSM.

To ensure that all external financial reporting requirements (statutory, regulatory, tax, capital etc) are fulfilled. LSM consists of a Lloyd’s Syndicate, a UK insurance company with European branches, a number of small service companies and a portion of a US balance sheet.

To provide insightful performance analysis on the LSM legal entities to the Legal Entity Management Committees enabling effective performance planning and management.

To report to our US Parent on standard monthly requirements and ad-hoc requests on both a pillar and a legal basis.

To ensure superior management of our investments, cash and all financial risks.

To give finance operations support to the business and finance.

Key Responsibilities:

Proactively support and work with the wider LSM Planning team and Business partnering community in order to achieve Plan deliverables.

Create a set of key core outputs to support the regions and Entities in presenting onwards

Identify and suggest improvements to the Plan process

Respond to planning questions raised by LSM Management, GRS Head Office, business partners and Legal Entity teams

Support with analysis on ad hoc projects and other initiatives

Support the continued development of the LSM Planning tool

Development and monitoring of Plan and Forecast timetables which the organisation will operate to

Assist in the preparation of financial Plan exhibits for communications to senior management

Help facilitate the timely submission of data

Assist the Head of Planning with process development and project work

Help document planning assumptions and decisions to ensure the audit trail of the Plan and its key drivers are understood and properly maintained at all times

A data quality advocate, responsible for monitoring the integrity of data from start to finish in the Plan cycle

Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM's commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. LSM expects you to understand your responsibilities relating to all regulatory and internal requirements, and to proactively demonstrate compliance with these requirements and behaviours at all times. These requirements include the Senior Managers and Certification Regime Conduct Rules ,Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest, and Whistleblowing

Skills and Experience:

ACA/ CIMA/ACCA qualified and or relevant qualification, part qualified with relevant work experience.

An understanding of the non-life insurance business and industry in the Lloyd’s market and work experience of insurance accounting.

Highly analytical approach to work to complete detailed analysis with structured, robust approach to data manipulation, interpretation and present findings in a clear and simple manner.

Ability to communicate and work effectively and forge good relationships throughout all levels of the organisation and across functions.

Possess a high level of written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrable ability to work and build effective relationships at different organisational levels to ensure effective teamwork across finance and other functions.

Minimum Intermediate level MS Excel skills; experience with Microsoft BI, SAP and Anaplan planning would be advantageous.

Good IT skills, with the emphasis on use of databases, with structured, robust approach to data manipulation.

Proven self-starter, demonstrating ability to independently work through and resolve issues as they arise

Ability to identify issues and adopt a solution based approach to resolution.

Demonstrable experience of good planning and organisational skills and be able to effectively multi-task.

Experience of working and consistently meeting multiple deadlines
