Job summary

Strategy Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Finance Director for a growing SME in the United Kingdom. You will partner with the Managing Director to shape strategy, improve reporting, and build a scalable finance function that supports growth.

Responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, cash management, governance and controls, delivering insightful management information, and leading a developing finance team while driving efficiency through systems and technology.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with strong financial leadership experience.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting and cash management.
• Experience in growing SME or owner-managed environment.
• Proven ability to influence decisions and challenge constructively.

Working pattern: Full-time, 5 days per week office based (flex on start and finish times but no days per week)

Reporting to: Managing Director

Some roles ask you to manage a finance function. This one gives you the opportunity to build one.

You'll work directly alongside a commercially minded and highly driven Managing Director, helping shape business decisions, improving financial visibility and building a finance function capable of supporting the next stage of growth. The systems, structures and disciplines you put in place won't just support next year's plans, they'll help define how the business operates for years to come.

The business has already established a strong position within its market and continues to grow. Finance now needs a leader who can combine commercial thinking with operational credibility, helping the business make better decisions, improve reporting, strengthen controls and support future expansion.

About You

We're open-minded on background and career stage.

You may already be operating as a Finance Director, or you could be an ambitious Head of Finance, Financial Controller or senior finance leader looking for the opportunity to step into your first Finance Director position.

What matters most is your ability to combine commercial thinking, leadership and a hands-on approach.

You'll bring:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
• Strong financial planning, reporting and cash management experience.
• Experience gained within a growing SME or owner-managed environment.
• The confidence to influence decisions and challenge constructively.
• A proactive mindset and a genuine desire to improve things.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• An interest in systems, technology and continuous improvement.
