• Fully qualified accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA with senior finance leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the finance function with robust financial control and governance.

MacGregor Black is partnering with an established international consumer goods manufacturer to appoint a Finance Director, based in Leeds. The role is hybrid, 3 days per week in the office.

This is a broad, hands-on leadership role, combining strategic financial planning with responsibility for the overall finance function. Working closely with the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will drive financial performance, strengthen financial controls and provide the commercial insight needed to support sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the finance function, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting and effective financial governance.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and long-term financial planning.
• Partner with operational and manufacturing teams to improve cost control, production efficiency and overall profitability.
• Oversee product costing, gross margin analysis, inventory and cost of goods sold.
• Provide financial analysis and commercial insight to support strategic decision-making across the business.
• Manage working capital and cash flow forecasting, ensuring the business maintains a strong financial position.
• Oversee month-end reporting, statutory accounts, tax compliance and year-end processes.
• Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, reporting processes and internal controls.
• Lead and develop the finance team, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
• Support investment decisions, business planning and growth initiatives, ensuring financial considerations underpin commercial strategy.

What We Are Looking For

• A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a strong track record in senior finance leadership.
• Proven experience within a manufacturing business, ideally within consumer goods or FMCG.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing finance, including product costing, gross margin, inventory and operational cost control.
• Experience across financial control, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and commercial analysis.
• The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable business insights.
• Experience leading and developing a finance team, while remaining hands-on when required.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge at senior level.
• A proactive, commercially minded approach, with a focus on driving performance and improving processes.
