Job summary

Starling Bank is seeking a Head of Financial Crime Operations Transformation to lead interim delivery and transformation across AML, CTF, CDD and EDD, ensuring robust governance and risk management.

Reporting to the Director of Specialist Banking Operations, you will lead senior professionals, partner across risk, compliance, product, engineering and data, champion a risk-based, customer-focused operating model, and drive improvements that balance controls with timely customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Deep subject matter expertise in UK Financial Crime regulatory guidelines, MLRs, JMLSG, PEPs, and Sanctions.
• Technical competency in understanding models, data, MI, statistical analysis, and operational workflows.
• Proven track record of managing and transforming financial crime operations and risk frameworks within regulated banking.

Responsibilities

• Oversee AML/CTF/CDD/EDD operations transformation and delivery against SLAs.
• Lead the risk-based approach to improve control environment and reduce false positives.
• Collaborate with SME leadership to tailor financial crime capabilities for SME customers.
• Manage governance and change across risk and compliance functions.
