Job summary

Starling Bank is seeking a Head of Financial Crime Operations Transformation on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role covers AML, CTF, CDD and EDD transformation, reporting to the Director of Specialist Banking Operations, with hybrid working and travel to multiple offices in the UK.

You will lead senior professionals, ensure robust governance, and drive risk-based, efficient operations in line with Starling’s strategic agenda and risk appetite.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of UK Financial Crime regulatory guidelines (MLRs, JMLSG, PEPs, Sanctions).
• Experience transforming financial crime operations within regulated banking.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Operations transformation and delivery for AML, CTF, CDD, and EDD across customer segments in line with SLAs.
• Lead governance and risk management aligned with departmental strategy.
• Drive continuous improvement of control environment and reduce false-positive alerts.
• Collaborate with 2nd Line Risk, Compliance, Product, Engineering and Data to embed new initiatives.
