Position: Financial Crime Risk Assurance Senior Specialist (systems focus)

Location: remote

Our client is seeking an Economic Crime Risk Assurance Senior Specialist to join their Economic Crime Risk team. The role involves acting as a subject matter expert, designing and executing systems assurance activities to ensure the robustness of the bank’s Financial Crime systems and controls, thereby protecting customers and the organization from risk.

As part of a wider assurance team delivering the Economic Crime Assurance Plan, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Acting as a key subject matter expert, designing and executing assurance activities across Fraud, AML, CTF, Sanctions, and related areas.
  2. Providing assurance on systems effectiveness, including payment screening, client screening, Transaction Monitoring, Customer Risk Assessment, and fraud prevention/detection systems.
  3. Planning and delivering a risk-based annual Economic Crime Assurance Programme.
  4. Leading independent testing of system components such as data lineage/mapping, data reconciliation, rule/model calibration, change management, and governance.
  5. Identifying control weaknesses, analyzing trends and system capabilities, and recommending enhancements.
  6. Producing high-quality written and verbal reports for senior management.
  7. Collaborating with Assurance, Audit, and Systems teams to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement of assurance activities.

Minimum requirements include:

  1. At least 5 years’ experience in Financial Services within Financial Crime/Fraud analytics, managing and analyzing large volumes of complex data.
  2. Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex technical matters into accessible communications.
  3. Good SQL knowledge; SAS experience is beneficial.
  4. Proven experience in delivering assurance/audit reviews of Financial Crime systems and data feeds.
  5. Expertise in Economic Crime risks, regulations, threats, and mitigation strategies.
