Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Responsibility for management accounting, forecasting, commercial analysis, and decision support relating to the Retail division.

Working closely with the Commercial Directors, Procurement teams and Head of Finance to maximise the commercial opportunities and identify risks and opportunities within the region.

They offer hybrid working - 3 days in the office - anchor days Tues/Wed. Hours 8.30am - 5.00pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Proactive Finance Business Partner providing support, challenge and insight to the commercial teams.
2. To deliver timely, accurate & relevant financial information & analysis to key stakeholders including:
1. Monthly and quarterly forecasts
2. Annual budgets
3. Variance analysis & bridge statements
4. Ad-hoc analysis to drive business performance
3. Consignment reconciliation & margin management, analysis, and challenge.
4. Present & explain commercial department performance at Weekly Trading Board meetings.
5. Identifying risks and opportunities to enable delivery of the targets.
6. Develop, rigorously challenge, and question the budget/forecast assumptions and KPIs.
7. Provision of the Monthly Review Packs & commentary.
8. Identify and explain business performance variances and recommendations for improvements.
9. Royalty & rebate calculations & returns.
10. Grower loan requests.
11. Assess foreign currency requirements and produce forward purchase proposals.
12. Maintain strong financial controls across all areas.
13. Support the Head of Finance as required through analysis and project activity.

COMPLIANCE

1. Working in accordance with SOX internal control framework to minimise risk and ensure transparency.
2. Ensure that all company policies and statutory requirements are adhered to.
3. Liaise with internal and external auditors.
4. Ensuring tasks are evidenced and saved in accordance with delegation of authority matrix in timely manner.
5. Ensure segregation of duties are aligned with control framework.

EXPERIENCE / ABOUT YOU

1. Fresh produce industry experience desirable.
2. Management accounting or financial analysis in an FMCG, manufacturing or traded commodity environment.
3. Experience of working closely with & influencing non-finance managers & commercial teams.
4. Flexible team player who can help change behaviour both by compelling nature of analysis and by working closely with colleagues to drive improvements.
5. Demonstrates a sense of personal ownership, is results driven and has a ‘can do’ attitude.
6. Enthusiasm and tenacity to strive for continuous improvement.
7. Able to adapt quickly in changing environments.
8. Prioritise and effectively manage time and work under pressure to tight deadlines.
9. Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships across all levels of the business.
10. Demonstrable experience of process improvement and stakeholder management.
11. Ability to use own initiative and to adapt to changes in the industry.
12. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified Accountant, ideally CIMA.
