Job summary

RK Accountancy and Finance Professionals is seeking a Financial Controller in Stockport to lead a small finance team and manage the company’s financial reporting and control environment. You’ll report to the Finance Director and drive robust processes, governance and operational excellence to support growth.

The role covers financial reporting, control, tax, treasury, management accounting, and transactional leadership.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Experience in a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or equivalent role.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Experience leading finance teams.
• Exposure to private equity-backed organisations.
• Experience of audit management.
• Proven experience leading the finance workstream of acquisition integrations.
• Strong systems and process improvement experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Interest in AI in Finance and driving AI initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly management accounts process and ensure timely completion.
• Produce accurate monthly financial results, board reporting packs and supporting analysis.
• Own the month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain a strong financial control framework across the business.
• Coordinate statutory accounts preparation and tax/compliance.
• Lead A/P, A/R and Credit Control functions and drive cash collection.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Drive automation and AI initiatives within Finance.
