Financial Controller/Head of Finance – UK & Ireland Operations

Location: Remote (occasional travel required), but can be office based if preferred.

Salary: Up to £120,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits

Are you a senior finance professional seeking a high-impact role within a complex, national organisation?

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a market-leading business with revenues exceeding £900 million. You will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, planning, compliance, and operational leadership across a major UK division.

The Opportunity

As Financial Controller, you will be a senior member of the finance function, leading a team of 11 and overseeing monthly reporting, business planning, and statutory compliance. You will also partner closely with divisional and executive leadership. This strategic role is not transactional; it focuses on financial governance, FP&A, risk management, and performance improvement across a large, operationally diverse business unit.

The position is remote, with occasional travel, and offers significant exposure to UK & Ireland and international stakeholders. However, if the successful candidate prefers, it can be office based.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning for a business unit generating over £450 million in revenue
  • Ensure a strong financial control environment and full compliance with US GAAP and internal standards
  • Oversee statutory accounts, internal and external audits, and tax submissions, working in collaboration with shared service centres
  • Serve as deputy to the Finance Director, representing finance in cross-functional and board-level meetings
  • Collaborate with operations, strategic accounts, and regional leadership to deliver insights and drive performance
  • Manage and develop a team of Finance Managers and Contract Accountants
  • Drive improvements in financial systems and reporting processes, including SAP and BPC

Candidate Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least six years of post-qualification experience
  • Experience within a large, multi-site, B2B or service-oriented organisation
  • Proven track record in financial leadership, team management, and strategic reporting
  • Strong understanding of controls, compliance, audit, and tax requirements
  • Commercially astute with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent enterprise systems is highly desirable
