Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to be working with a brand-new client to recruit a Financial Controller for this established and highly respected charity based in Redruth.
This is a genuinely interesting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a small, close-knit organisation that plays an important role in supporting community and social enterprise sector across Cornwall.
Reporting to the Director of Operations and sitting as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll take ownership of the organisation’s financial function while also providing the financial insight, challenge and forward planning needed to support its longer-term sustainability.
We're looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong experience across financial management, management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
You'll need to be comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level. This is a relatively small organisation, so we're looking for someone who is happy getting stuck into the detail but who can also step back, interpret the numbers and explain what they actually mean to non-finance colleagues, senior leaders and Trustees. You'll ideally have experience working within the charity or voluntary sector, with a good understanding of restricted funds, grant income and associated reporting requirements.
You'll also need excellent analytical and communication skills, strong attention to detail and the confidence to provide constructive financial challenge when required. Experience with Xero would be beneficial, alongside advanced Excel skills. Most importantly, you'll need to be someone who enjoys working collaboratively and wants their financial expertise to contribute to an organisation with a clear social purpose.
