Job summary

White Horse Employment is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead a broad charity finance function. You will provide robust financial oversight, strategic insight and management of funding, budgets and resources, working closely with the SLT and Board of Trustees to support mission-driven impact.

The role requires a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical expertise in financial management, reporting, budgeting and forecasting, ideally with charity sector

• Lead and develop the finance function, including Payroll Manager and Senior Finance Administrator.
• Oversee management accounts, financial reporting, cash flow and financial controls.

• Provide financial insight and advice to the SLT and Board of Trustees.
• Oversee statutory reporting, audits and regulatory compliance.
• Manage project accounting, funding budgets and expenditure, ensuring funds are allocated and reported.
• Monitor financial risks and identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and sustainability.
• Support senior stakeholders with financial planning and decision-making across the organisation.

About You

We are looking for a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical expertise and experience across financial management, reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

You will ideally have experience within a charity or not-for-profit organisation, with a good understanding of funding arrangements, restricted funds, grant reporting and project-based accounting. Experience managing and developing a finance team is also important, alongside the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and provide trusted advice at senior level.
