Financial Controller - Mid Cornwall - £50,000
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have formed an exclusive recruitment partnership with a long established and highly successful retail services business based in mid Cornwall. The company have engaged us to source their next Financial Controller, an interesting and broad role which will essentially see the successful candidate assuming a finance-number-one position within a fast growing and financially secure business. The role is offered as a full time, permanent contract with potential for an element of hybrid working where required.
With a current turnover exceeding £5M and helmed by a very experienced management team, the role works within an impressive and profitable luxury marketplace where returning customer numbers are high. The incoming Financial Cornwall will inherit an established function but will also benefit from a "blank canvas", essentially free to redesign, develop and streamline the financial operations where appropriate (particularly digital accounting systems). Reporting to and working closely alongside a high experienced CEO, and managing a team of three direct reports, the role would be particularly well suited to either an experienced FC or perhaps a Finance Manager seeking to step up. Key responsibilities to include:
We're looking for an ambitious FC that possesses A1 technical experience as well sound commercial judgement. You'll be taking a lead role in ensuring the efficient financial controls of a very busy function with multiple income stream and we're looking for a candidate that feels as comfortable with management reporting as they do statutory accounting, leading audits, budgeting, forecasting and benchmarking. A professionally qualified individual (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), and/or AAT qualified with significant vocational experience, you'll need a solid background in the preparation of financial and management reports, up to date knowledge of accounting standards and budgetary controls. Our client is open minded where sector experience is concerned, but the role would be particularly well suited to an applicant with B2C retail exposure. You'll be a natural leader with past experience in managing your own team, developing their skills and mentoring their progress. Your skills in identifying potential improvements and leading finance projects will be demonstrable and your experience of using technology in previous roles will be obvious. Most importantly, you'll possess the ability to recognise the values and cultures of a growing business and hit the ground running within a friendly and likeminded team environment.
