My client is a well-established, family-owned manufacturer based in Manchester, currently entering an exciting phase of transformation they are looking to appoint a commercially minded Financial Controller to help drive growth and support strong financial operations during this pivotal time.

The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of a fast-paced and evolving manufacturing business. Reporting directly to the owners, the successful candidate will support strategic decisions and oversee key financial functions.

• Support for the preparation of monthly management accounts for external accountants.
• Preparation of financial forecasts to assist long-term planning
• Financial analysis of product costs and transport costs
• Financial analysis of sales, costs and profit by customer and product
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities across the business
• Management of the existing function team size 3 reports
• Liaising with company accountants, auditors & banks.

Finance Controller Roles “oversight of purchase ledger and sales ledger function” management/support/cover

• Processing payments, allocating incoming monies, and reconciling petty cash
• Chasing outstanding debts and managing monetary claims
• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts for external accountants

The role forms part of a multi-disciplinary small finance team, where responsibilities are shared, and holiday/sickness cover is essential – meaning flexibility and a team-focused mindset are key.

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally high volume manufacturing
• Line management experience of a small team
• Advanced Excel/spreadsheet skills
• Strong working knowledge of SAGE
• Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness
• Confident communicator who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment
• Organised, adaptable, and comfortable managing a broad range of responsibilities
• Exposure to carbon footprint tracking, climate change levy, or wider sustainability reporting would be a strong advantage

Flexible Working/Hours of Work:

Full time - 8-hour day

The business offers flexibility around working hours, provided employees are working within core business hours (e.g. 8am–4pm, 9am–5pm, or 10am–6pm).

• Company pension
• Holidays 20 days plus 8 bank holidays - Due to the factory being open 365 days a year there is the option to work on a bank holiday. 5.6 weeks times the average working week including bank holidays.
• On-site parking

Location:

This is a fully on-site role based at the manufacturing facility in Manchester, working with the owners and operations team.
