Job description

My client is a successful and profitable growing £10m t/o Fashion Supplier with a fantastic client base representing many of the leading Retail High Street names.

Based at their main Design and Distribution hub in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, this is an ambitious Owner-managed SME with clear plans to expand their range of Brands and further develop their E-commerce Sales channels.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will operate as part of the well-motivated and cohesive Management Team.

This is an on-site permanent role with hybrid flexibility to work from home 1 day per week.

Responsibilities will include:

1. Head up a small, efficient Finance & Administration team.
2. Manage and develop 2 Assistant Accountants.
3. Implement and optimize the recently installed Sage system.
4. Produce monthly management accounts with insightful commentary.
5. Develop 'bottom-up' annual departmental budgets and perform regular forecasting.
6. Engage proactively with all business functions, focusing on stock level efficiency.
7. Coordinate with auditors to prepare the annual statutory accounts.
8. Interface regularly with professional stakeholders such as auditors, banks, and insurers.
9. Contribute as a key member of the Management Team to support profitable growth strategies.

Candidate Profile:

1. Hands-on accounting experience combined with broad commercial acumen and a proactive approach to add value as a Management Team member.
2. Qualified or QBE; more important is the potential, drive, and ambition to develop the role alongside business expansion.
3. Experience in a stock-based environment, whether in industry or practice, is advantageous but not essential.
