Job summary

RG Consultancy are working with a fantastic growing SME in Macclesfield who are recruiting for a Financial Controller to join them on a permanent basis. This is a number one in finance role to support the business and report directly into the Managing Director.

You will take ownership of day-to-day finance, produce monthly management accounts, budgets and variance analysis, and manage cash-flow forecasting and working capital while providing commercial financial analysis to drive profitability

Qualifications

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified with 5+ years proven experience in financial management.
• Experience as number one in finance within an SME or strong number two in a larger business.
• Strong IT skills including accounting software and MS Excel.
• Experience in manufacturing/wholesale/distribution preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of day-to-day finance and provide accurate information to senior management.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Monitor performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, margins and cost control.
• Manage cash-flow forecasting and working capital incl. stock, debtors and creditors.
• Provide commercial financial analysis to support pricing, investment and decisions.
• Assess investments and monitor financial returns against business cases.
• Oversee reconciliations, ledgers, payments, VAT and year-end accounting.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure on-time reporting.
• Identify improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting.
• Support and develop junior finance team members.
• Collaborate with senior management across departments providing financial challenge.

Role Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and provide accurate financial information to senior management
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
• Monitor business performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, margins and cost control
• Manage cash-flow forecasting and working capital, including stock, debtors and creditors
• Provide commercial financial analysis to support pricing, investment and wider business decisions
• Assess proposed investments and monitor financial returns against agreed business cases
• Oversee reconciliations, ledgers, payments, VAT and year-end accounting requirements.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure reporting is accurate and delivered on time
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting
• Support and develop junior members of the finance team
• Work closely with senior management and other departments, providing financial challenge and practical recommendations
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and ensure appropriate action is taken

Person Specification
