Job summary

RG Consultancy are supporting a growing SME in Congleton with a permanent Financial Controller role. This is the number one finance position reporting to the Managing Director, overseeing day-to-day finance, management accounts, budgeting, cash flow and financial controls.

The role requires CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualification with 5+ years in financial management, with strong Excel and accounting software skills. Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership of the finance team are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified with CIMA/ACCA/ACA and 5+ years proven experience in financial management.
• Experience as number one in finance within an SME or strong number two in a larger business is preferred.
• Strong IT skills including accounting software and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and provide accurate financial information to senior management.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Monitor business performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, margins and cost control.
• Manage cash-flow forecasting and working capital, including stock, debtors and creditors.
• Provide commercial financial analysis to support pricing, investment and wider business decisions.
• Assess proposed investments and monitor financial returns against agreed business cases.
• Oversee reconciliations, ledgers, payments, VAT and year-end accounting requirements.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure reporting is accurate and delivered on time.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting.
• Support and develop junior members of the finance team.
• Work closely with senior management and other departments, providing financial challenge and practical recommendations.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and ensure appropriate action is taken.
