The Portfolio Group in Hinckley is recruiting a Financial Controller who is ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified to lead the finance function. Based in Hinckley, this on-site role focuses on accuracy in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting within a fast-paced business.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will manage the finance team, drive process improvements, and provide insightful analysis to support strategic decisions and growth.

Qualifications

• ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification required.
• Experience leading a Finance function with strong reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to analyse financial performance.
• Excellent communication with Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
• A hands-on leader able to mentor staff across experience levels.
• Process-driven mindset with ability to implement system efficiencies.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day management of the Finance team, ensuring efficient operation and high performance.
• Coordinate and review month-end reporting procedures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, reports, and variance analyses.
• Complete and review all month-end Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Lead the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Oversee cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
• Manage the audit of financial statements at the end of the financial year.
• Analyse and report on business profitability across client, product, service, and geography.
• Authorise high-level payment runs and oversee financial controls.
• Provide financial insights and ad hoc reporting to senior management as required.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ACCA, CIMA, or ACA-qualified Financial Controller to join a growing, dynamic business. Operating in a fast-paced environment, this role will manage the daily activities of the Finance function, ensuring operational efficiency and accuracy in all financial transactions.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will play a key leadership role within the business, managing a team and overseeing the wider Finance function. This position is ideal for an ambitious finance professional looking to progress towards more senior roles as the business continues its growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day management of the Finance team, ensuring efficient operation and high performance.
• Coordinate and review month-end reporting procedures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Strong commercial awareness and ability to analyse financial performance.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both Finance and non-Finance professionals.
• A hands‑on leader with a ‘can‑do’ approach, capable of mentoring and developing team members at different experience levels.
• Strong process‑driven mindset with the ability to implement system efficiencies to support business growth.
