Job summary

Distinct Recruitment is working with an established Mansfield-based business to recruit a Financial Controller. The role is broad and high profile, responsible for leading day-to-day financial management and ensuring senior leaders receive accurate and timely financial information.

You will work closely with the CFO and leadership team to deliver management reporting, maintain strict financial controls, and improve how financial information is produced and communicated across the business.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with CIMA/ACCA/ACA credentials.
• Strong management accounting and financial control experience.
• Confident communicating with senior finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Able to explain financial performance clearly to colleagues.
• Proactive, organized and comfortable working independently.
• Experience managing or developing finance team members would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly financial reporting process.
• Review performance against budget and forecast, highlighting key trends and risks.
• Provide clear financial commentary to the CFO and wider business.
• Partner with teams across the organisation to improve financial understanding.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.
• Support year-end reporting and audit requirements.
• Manage and develop the Management Accountant.

Financial Controller

Salary: Up to £65,000, with some flexibility for an exceptional candidateLocation: MansfieldWorking pattern: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the officeReports to: CFODirect report: Management Accountant

We are recruiting a Financial Controller for an established business based in Mansfield.

This is a broad and visible role, responsible for leading the day-to-day financial management of the business and ensuring senior leaders have accurate, timely and meaningful financial information.

Working closely with the CFO and wider leadership team, you will oversee the delivery of management reporting, maintain a strong financial control environment and help improve the way financial information is produced and communicated across the business.

The role will also involve managing and developing a Management Accountant.

The role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the preparation and delivery of monthly financial reporting
• Reviewing performance against budget and forecast, highlighting key trends, risks and opportunities
• Providing clear financial commentary and insight to the CFO and wider business
• Business partnering with teams across the organisation to improve financial understanding
• Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, systems and ways of working
• Streamlining reporting and helping to reduce the month-end timetable
• Improving the efficiency and consistency of financial processes
• Supporting the implementation of new controls and reporting improvements
• Supporting year-end reporting and audit requirements
• Managing, supporting and developing the Management Accountant
• Providing ad hoc financial analysis and support across the business

The opportunity

The CFO is looking for someone who can challenge the numbers and turn financial information into clear messages for non-finance stakeholders.
