Job summary

SF Recruitment is recruiting a Financial Controller for a hybrid role in Alfreton. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead the finance function across the group, developing the team and ensuring robust reporting and controls to support growth.

The role covers month-end, year-end, management reporting, treasury, budgeting, and strategic commercial analysis across multi-site operations. Strong ERP/NetSuite experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with substantial financial leadership experience.
• Experience leading finance teams and providing strong reporting and controls.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, audit and statutory reporting.
• Experience in multi-site environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.
• Own month-end and year-end reporting processes.
• Produce management accounts and leadership reporting packs.
• Maintain balance sheet controls and reconciliations.
• Oversee cash flow forecasting, treasury and working capital.
• Lead annual budgets, rolling forecasts and scenario planning.

• Support operational stakeholders with financial insights.
• Manage external audit and statutory reporting.
• Oversee VAT and other statutory returns.
• Improve finance processes, controls, reporting and systems.
• Support the CFO with strategic finance initiatives.

Financial Controller

Alfreton Hybrid

£75,000 - £85,000

SF Recruitment are working with a PE-backed business in Alfreton to recruit a Financial Controller. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day finance function across the Group. You'll lead and develop the finance team whilst ensuring the business has strong reporting, controls and financial information to support its continued development. It's a good opportunity for an established Financial Controller, or a strong Senior Finance Manager ready to take on broader ownership, who enjoys being close to both the numbers and the wider business.

The role

You'll take responsibility for:

• Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team
• Ownership of month-end and year-end reporting
• Producing management accounts and reporting packs for senior leadership
• Maintaining strong balance sheet controls and reconciliations
• Cash flow forecasting, treasury and working capital oversight
• Leading annual budgets, rolling forecasts and scenario planning
• Providing profitability, KPI and commercial analysis to the leadership team
• Supporting operational stakeholders with financial insight and decision-making
• Managing the external audit and statutory reporting process
• Overseeing VAT and other statutory returns
• Improving finance processes, controls, reporting and systems
• Supporting the CFO with wider finance projects and strategic initiatives

What we're looking for

Ideally you’ll be:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Experienced at Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or similar level
• Comfortable leading and developing a finance team
• Strong across both financial and management accounting
• Experienced with budgeting, forecasting, audit and statutory reporting
• Commercial enough to turn financial information into useful insight for the wider business
• Strong on Excel and comfortable working with ERP/finance systems

Experience within a multi-site environment would be particularly useful, although it isn't essential. NetSuite experience would also be beneficial.
