Job summary

SF Partners is seeking a Financial Controller in Alfreton with hybrid working. You will report to the CFO and lead the finance function across the Group, ensuring robust reporting and controls while supporting strategic initiatives. The role suits an established controller or senior finance manager ready for broader ownership.

You will oversee month-end, year-end, budgeting, forecasting and governance, partnering with operational leaders to drive financial insight and performance.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Experience leading a finance team.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, audit and statutory reporting.
• Experience in a multi-site environment would be useful.

Responsibilities

• Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team.
• Ownership of month-end and year-end reporting.
• Producing management accounts and reporting packs for senior leadership.
• Maintaining strong balance sheet controls and reconciliations.
• Cash flow forecasting, treasury and working capital oversight.
• Leading annual budgets, rolling forecasts and scenario planning.
• Providing profitability, KPI and commercial analysis to the leadership team.
• Supporting operational stakeholders with financial insight and decision-making.
• Managing the external audit and statutory reporting process.
• Overseeing VAT and other statutory returns.
• Improving finance processes, controls, reporting and systems.
• Supporting the CFO with wider finance projects and strategic initiatives.

Financial Controller

SF Recruitment are working with a PE-backed business in Alfreton to recruit a Financial Controller. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day finance function across the Group. You'll lead and develop the finance team whilst ensuring the business has strong reporting, controls and financial information to support its continued development. It's a good opportunity for an established Financial Controller, or a strong Senior Finance Manager ready to take on broader ownership, who enjoys being close to both the numbers and the wider business.

The role

What we're looking for

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Experienced at Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or similar level
• Comfortable leading and developing a finance team
• Strong across both financial and management accounting
• Experienced with budgeting, forecasting, audit and statutory reporting
• Commercial enough to turn financial information into useful insight for the wider business
• Strong on Excel and comfortable working with ERP/finance systems

Experience within a multi-site environment would be particularly useful, although it isn't essential. NetSuite experience would also be beneficial
