Artemis Human Capital has partnered with a well-established Mid Ulster business to appoint an ambitious Financial Controller. The role offers scope to influence systems, processes and strategic direction as the finance function evolves through a transformation programme.

We seek a qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent with strong commercial acumen and leadership capabilities, ready to progress into broader finance leadership over time.

Competenze

Artemis Human Capital has partnered exclusively with a successful and well-established business in the Mid Ulster area to appoint an ambitious Financial Controller.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who wants to move beyond a traditional Financial Controller remit and play an increasingly influential role in the future direction of a growing business.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the finance function while providing high-quality commercial insight to support decision-making across the organisation.

The business is entering an important period of development, including investment in systems, processes and management information. The successful candidate will therefore have the opportunity to influence how the finance function evolves and play a key role in a significant systems and digital transformation programme.

Importantly, this role offers genuine scope for progression. We are interested in speaking with ambitious Financial Controllers who have the capability and aspiration to develop towards Finance Director level over time.

The Role

• Leading the day-to-day finance function and developing the existing finance team.
• Ownership of monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning.
• Providing meaningful commercial analysis and insight to senior management.
• Developing management information, reporting and KPIs to improve business visibility.
• Monitoring profitability, margins, WIP and cost-to-complete across projects.
• Strengthening financial controls and improving processes across the organisation.
• Working closely with operational and commercial teams to improve forecasting and financial performance.
• Supporting pricing, investment decisions and business cases.
• Driving improvements in working capital and cash management.
• Playing an important role in the implementation of a new ERP/business management system.
• Identifying opportunities for greater automation, efficiency and use of data.
• Supporting the senior leadership team with longer-term financial and strategic planning.

The Person

We are looking for a qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent – with strong commercial and financial management experience.

You will ideally have:

• Experience operating at Financial Controller level or in a senior finance position with significant responsibility.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to look beyond the numbers.
• Strong systems capability and an interest in process improvement and digital transformation.
• The confidence to work closely with and constructively challenge senior stakeholders.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• A hands‑on, pragmatic approach combined with the ability to think strategically.
• The ambition and capability to progress into a broader finance leadership role.

Experience within construction, manufacturing or another project-based environment, including exposure to project costing, WIP and margin management, would be particularly desirable.
