Job summary

Four Squared Recruitment Ltd is assisting a Cheltenham-based technology business seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function and shape its next growth phase.

You will own month‑end, drive BI reporting, budgeting and cash flow, and partner with senior leadership to enable strategic decisions while driving automation and scalable controls.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• Strong management accounting, forecasting and financial control expertise.
• Experience improving reporting, MI and business intelligence.
• Commercial mindset with ability to influence decision-making.
• Interest and experience in process automation, AI and systems improvement.
• Hands-on approach in a growing SME environment.
• Ambition to develop into broader strategic finance leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day finance function and own the month-end process.
• Produce meaningful management information, dashboards and commercial reporting.
• Improve the quality, accuracy and accessibility of financial data across the business.

My client is a fast-growing technology business experiencing exceptional growth, with turnover set to double from £3m to £6m this year alone.

With their current Finance Manager moving on, they are looking for a commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function, improve business intelligence and reporting, and help shape the next stage of growth.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the leadership team and supported by a Fractional CFO and Finance Administrator, you will:

• Lead the day-to-day finance function and own the month-end process
• Produce meaningful management information, dashboards and commercial reporting
• Improve the quality, accuracy and accessibility of financial data across the business
• Drive budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
• Analyse operating costs and identify efficiency opportunities
• Support strategic decision-making through insightful financial analysis
