Sheridan Maine is working exclusively with a leading client near Bournemouth to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to join their business and support their growth plans.

As the Financial Controller for a diverse group of companies, we are seeking a candidate with experience in the SME engineering or manufacturing sector. You will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations for the group, requiring a strong background in accounting and finance. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, ensure compliance, and provide strategic insights to the group leadership team.

Key areas of responsibility for the Financial Controller:

• Manage a small team and oversee all accounting operations, including Management Accounts, AR/AP, GL, Cost & Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements to the Group Leadership Team.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
• Monitor quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
• Identify and manage financial risks and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with legal reporting requirements and tax filings, and research technical accounting issues to maintain compliance.
• Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Experience and Skills required for this role:

• Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA Accountant.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar role.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to work as a team leader, motivate, and support team members as needed.
