Job summary

The CFO HQ is seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Birmingham city centre. You will own financial controls, deliver robust reporting, and lead the preparation of Final Accounts for external audit, liaising with auditors throughout the process.

You will oversee treasury, supplier payments, and financial systems, drive improvements, and line-manage a five-strong Financial Accounting team, reporting to Head of Finance.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in financial control and reporting.
• Leadership of finance teams and external audit liaison.
• Public sector accounting knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of the organisation's final accounts for external audit, acting as a key point of contact for external auditors throughout the process.
• Oversee day-to-day treasury management, including required returns to HM Treasury, HMRC and other key stakeholders.
• Ensure financial systems and controls are effective and support accurate financial reporting throughout the year.
• Line manage the Financial Accounting team of five, while providing wider leadership and support across the Finance Team.
