Furness College seeks a highly skilled Financial Controller to lead its finance function. The role involves operational leadership, ensuring efficient financial services, and maintaining robust control frameworks. Ideal candidates will be CCAB qualified with significant experience in financial management, preferably in the public sector.
Located on the edge of the Lake District National Park, Furness College is a vibrant, innovative, and fast-paced FE College, benefiting from strong partnerships with local employers and universities. We offer an extensive range of courses with a particular emphasis on technical learning, apprenticeships, and Higher Education, in addition to the broadest A’ level offer in Cumbria.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for the operational leadership of all aspects of the finance function, ensuring financial services are provided efficiently across all sites in line with College policies, procedures, and financial regulations. The post holder will ensure that the College’s financial control framework is robust and that procedures are consistently adhered to. You will ensure the effective utilization of resources, staff, and budgets, providing a responsive and flexible service to managers and staff.
The successful candidate will be a part or fully qualified CCAB Accountant, with significant financial and management account experience in a medium-sized (>£15m) turnover organization, preferably gained within the public or third sectors.
