ACCA Careers is recruiting a Financial Controller to oversee day-to-day financial control, reporting and budgeting for a fast-growing SME. The role focuses on accuracy, cash flow, VAT and year-end accounts, with a hands-on approach to improve processes and controls.

You will partner with senior leadership and operational teams to provide strategic insights, drive automation and deliver robust financial visibility across the business.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly management accounts, reporting pack and detailed variance analysis.
• Provide clear financial insight and commentary to senior management, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections and scenario modelling.
• Maintain strong financial controls, ensuring accuracy and integrity across the ledger.
• Oversee VAT, statutory reporting, year-end accounts and audit requirements.
• Monitor working capital, debtor performance and cash collection.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and system efficiency.
• Work closely with operational and commercial teams to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
• Drive automation, data accuracy and continuous improvement across the finance function.
• Support the wider finance team and contribute to the development of a robust, scalable finance operation.

Role Purpose

The Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day financial control and reporting of the business, providing accurate financial insight while supporting senior leadership with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and commercial decision-making. This is a hands‑on role with a strong focus on improving processes, controls and reporting as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

A Successful Finance Manager Should Have

• Professional accounting qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.


• Proven experience in running a finance function in an SME


• Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.


• Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders effectively.


• Proficiency in financial software and tools.

Job Offer

£60,000 - £75,000 + Bonus
