Get Recruited UK Ltd is partnering with a fast-growing business in the social commerce and ecommerce sector to appoint its first Financial Controller in London. The role reports to the founders and focuses on strengthening controls, improving reporting, and delivering commercial insight to support growth.

The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow experience, and a hands-on, commercial mindset.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Experience as Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior accountant in a fast-growing SME.
• Experience in marketing agency, ecommerce, technology or fast-paced service-led business advantageous.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow experience.
• Commercially minded with ability to understand client and campaign profitability.
• Comfortable working with founders and senior stakeholders.
• Able to introduce controls without creating unnecessary complexity.
• Confident improving systems and processes within an evolving business.
• Hands-on and able to manage senior-level reporting and day-to-day financial matters.
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of monthly management accounts with accurate, timely reporting.
• Produce clear financial analysis, commentary and performance reporting for founders and senior leadership.
• Lead annual budgeting and maintain rolling forecasts.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital and short-term funding requirements.
• Develop reporting on revenue, client profitability, marketing expenditure and operating costs.
• Review commercial agreements to ensure correct recognition of revenue, commissions and performance income.
• Provide financial support and challenge when evaluating new clients, campaigns and investments.
• Establish controls around client expenditure, supplier payments and approvals.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, banking and payroll.
• Manage VAT returns, statutory accounts, corporation tax and annual audit.

FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

LONDON (HYBRID)

THE OPPORTUNITY

Get Recruited is partnering with a fast-growing business operating within the social commerce and ecommerce sector. The business works with established consumer brands, providing marketing, content, advertising and operational support across major online marketplaces.

Following a period of significant growth, the company is looking to appoint its first Financial Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function. Reporting directly to the founders, you will strengthen financial controls, improve reporting and provide the commercial insight needed to support the next stage of growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial business and wants to take control of and build a finance function that's all their own.

THE FINANCIAL CONTROLLER ROLE

• Taking ownership of the monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
• Producing clear financial analysis, commentary and performance reporting for the founders and senior leadership team
• Leading the annual budgeting process and maintaining accurate rolling forecasts
• Managing cash flow forecasting, working capital and short-term funding requirements
• Developing reporting across revenue, client profitability, marketing expenditure and operating costs
• Reviewing commercial agreements and ensuring revenue, commission and performance-related income are recognised correctly
• Providing financial support and challenge when assessing new clients, campaigns and investment decisions
• Establishing appropriate controls around client expenditure, supplier payments and approval processes
• Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, banking and payroll
• Managing VAT returns, statutory accounts, corporation tax requirements and the annual audit
• Working with external accountants, auditors, tax advisers and other professional partners
• Improving finance systems, management information and reporting processes as the business grows
• Recruiting, managing and developing additional finance team members when required
• Supporting the founders with commercial modelling, strategic planning and ad hoc projects

THE PERSON

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior accountant within a fast-growing SME environment
• Experience within a marketing agency, ecommerce, technology, media or other fast-paced service-led business would be advantageous
• Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow experience
• Commercially minded, with the ability to understand client and campaign profitability
• Comfortable working directly with founders and senior stakeholders
• Able to introduce appropriate controls without creating unnecessary complexity
• Confident improving systems and processes within an evolving business
• Hands-on and willing to manage both senior-level reporting and day-to-day financial matters
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
