Job Description: Qualified Accountant (Contract, Immediate Start, Hybrid Working)
We are seeking a qualified accountant to join our team on a contract basis with an immediate start. The role offers hybrid working arrangements.
Position Purpose
- Oversee Companies House administrative reporting, including confirmation statements and filing deadlines, to ensure all statutory deadlines are met.
- Maintain fixed asset registers across multiple sites and process depreciation journals monthly.
- Prepare and file monthly Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns in accordance with regulations.
- Play a key role in the statutory audit process, including coordination with external auditors, and ensure compliance with tax regulations such as VAT.
- Assist the Financial Reporting Manager in addressing regulatory enquiries with accurate and timely information.
- Monitor budget versus project expenditures for development projects and provide weekly updates to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Deliverables
- Timely completion of statutory audits and all corporate tax, VAT, and CIS returns.
- Monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts for fixed assets, VAT, and intercompany transactions, adhering to reporting schedules.
- Provide weekly reports on budget vs. actual expenditure for development projects, including variance analysis and insights.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including the finance team, service providers, and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Ensure subledgers for fixed assets, VAT, and intercompany transactions are accurately maintained and reconciled.
- Support external audits and taxation matters, ensuring compliance and proper reporting.
- Stay informed about UK accounting and taxation legislation to ensure full compliance.
- Build meaningful relationships with stakeholders, including finance team members and HMRC.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement practical solutions.

- Technical accounting and taxation skills are advantageous.
Proven Experience and Education
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
- Experience in financial accounting, reconciliations, and management accounts preparation.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in group accounting, intercompany reconciliations, or multi-entity businesses.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations or reporting frameworks.
- Adaptability and continuous improvement mindset.
