The Role

This position is based in our Newcastle office and is suitable for a qualified accountant eager to support financial accounting services across Norton Rose Fulbright's EMEA offices. It is ideal for an experienced financial accountant seeking a new challenge in a dynamic environment.

Reporting to the Financial Controller and working within a team of five accountants, the role primarily involves accounting for the UK offices (approximately 55% of EMEA) and supporting accounting activities across 18 EMEA offices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Month-End Close: Complete month-end tasks by working day 4, including:

• Posting journals for UK entities, coordinating with relevant teams for accuracy
• Reviewing and coordinating with EMEA offices
• Preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations for review
• Identifying process improvements

Additional Tasks: Support VAT returns, statutory accounts, audit processes, and other shared responsibilities.

Cross-Regional Coordination: Liaise with international accountants, review financial submissions, and assist with projects and ad-hoc reports.

While performing these duties, you are expected to:

• Work effectively within the Newcastle team and build relationships with UK and non-UK finance teams

Experience:

• Qualified accountant with at least 3 years in a similar role (essential)

• Proven ability to manage time and meet deadlines (essential)
• SAP ERP experience (preferred)
• Experience with enterprise performance management systems like Tagetik (beneficial)
