Job summary

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service invites applications for the post of Transactional Finance Assistant on a temporary basis. There are two positions: full-time (35 hours) and part-time (30 hours), with a hybrid arrangement between home and the Cambuslang office.

You will play a key role in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Purchase Card operations, providing accurate, compliant financial services and professional guidance to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transactional finance or similar financial environment is essential.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and adapt to changing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Excellent IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer-focused support across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Purchase Card operations.
• Work closely with internal departments, external suppliers, customers and other stakeholders to ensure effective transactional finance processes.
• Maintain accurate financial records and audit trails and support financial controls and reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve financial queries, discrepancies and transactional issues with strong communication and problem-solving.
• Meet performance targets while maintaining compliance with financial regulations, policies and procedures.
