An established industry player is seeking a Senior Graded Finance Officer to join their Housing Finance Team. Cardiff Council aims to provide a high quality, accessible housing finance service. The service currently has a Full Time vacancy for a Senior Graded Finance Officer within the Housing Finance Team, responsible for Temporary Accommodation sites across Cardiff.
The main function of the post is to be responsible for the recovery of rent arrears and service charges for Temporary Supported Accommodation provided by Cardiff Council’s homeless service. The role involves taking all appropriate recovery actions and may also include assisting with other rent accounts across the service as required. Supporting contract holders and licensees experiencing financial hardship is also part of the role. Additionally, the post holder will liaise with on-site support staff, hold surgeries, and conduct face-to-face appointments with service users when needed.
Essential requirements include experience in debt recovery for rent or other debts, up to and including legal action, the ability to follow complex procedures, and proficiency with IT systems. Finance Officers will interact daily with the Housing Benefit department and conduct lone visits to temporary accommodation sites and customers’ homes, so previous experience with home visits is essential.
Experience in supervising and mentoring others, along with providing formal and informal feedback, would be advantageous.
