Joining an entrepreneurial business, modern, forward-thinking, construction company in Salford. An organically growing SME that, up to this point, hasn’t required a Finance Manager. They are now at a size and scale where they’re looking for an ambitious Finance Manager to come in, on a part-time basis, and drive management accounts and forward planning.

Having visited the office and chatted at length with the MD, it’s clear that this is a phenomenal business to work for in terms of culture, opportunity, and development. The offices are slick, open plan, and even dog-friendly. It’s a totally modern operation where you walk in and instantly think, I would love to work here.

This is a brand new role in the business intended to increase visibility for the Directors and aid in strategic planning and projects. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Implementing an MI pack with margins broken down by each project
2. Working directly with the business owner to understand the budgeting process, current business forecasts, and total financial outlook for the operation
3. Implementing your own working style, ideas, and processes
4. Handling CIS returns, subcontractor payroll
5. Being supported by a Bookkeeper, but maintaining a hands-on role in end-to-end accounting, from processing invoices to full cash flow forecasting, budgeting, P&L analysis, VAT returns, and management accounts
6. Using XERO software effectively
