Job summary

Wade Macdonald is recruiting an experienced Finance Manager to lead a small team of three Financial Accountants. You will own month-end close, oversee financial reporting and controls, and drive process improvements across the finance function.

You will be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with strong technical accounting skills and experience with audits and statutory accounts. ERP systems such as SAP and stakeholder management are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong technical accounting and reporting knowledge.
• Experience with month-end and year-end processes, statutory accounts and audits.
• Proven people management experience.
• Exposure to multi-entity environments and ERP systems such as SAP is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of month-end close and ensure timely financial reporting.
• Review key accounting entries including journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Identify process improvements to shorten reporting cycles.
• Coordinate year-end activities and support statutory accounts production.
• Manage requirements arising from internal and external audits.
• Act as key Finance contact for auditors on financial accounting matters.
• Lead and develop a team of three Financial Accountants.

About the Job

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to take ownership of a key financial accounting function. Managing a team of three Financial Accountants, you will oversee financial reporting, controls and compliance while ensuring month-end and year-end activities are delivered accurately and to deadline.

You will work closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider organisation, combining strong technical accounting expertise with effective people management and a focus on improving processes.

Duties will include:

• Taking ownership of the month-end close and ensuring financial reporting is completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
• Reviewing key accounting entries, including journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
• Maintaining oversight of balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring discrepancies are investigated and addressed.
• Identifying opportunities to streamline financial processes and shorten reporting cycles.
• Coordinating year-end accounting activities and supporting the production of statutory accounts.
• Managing requirements arising from both internal and external audits.
• Acting as a key Finance contact for auditors on financial accounting matters.
• Leading, supporting and developing a team of three Financial Accountants.
• Reviewing the team's output to maintain high standards of accuracy and quality.
• Building effective relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and providing financial expertise when required.

About the Successful Applicant

You will be an ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified accountant with strong technical accounting and reporting knowledge. You will have experience managing month-end and year-end processes, statutory accounts and audits, alongside proven people management skills. Exposure to complex or multi-entity environments, ERP systems such as SAP, and finance transformation or automation would be advantageous.
