Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day finance function and small team.
• Produce monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, analysis).
• Own month-end and year-end reporting processes.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management activities.
• Provide variance analysis and commercial insight to drive performance.
• Analyse profitability, costs, stock and margins.
• Manage working capital, debtors, creditors, banking and cash.
• Support strategic planning with financial modelling.
• Maintain robust financial controls and compliance with statutory requirements.
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors and banks.
• Identify and implement finance system/process improvements.
• Mentor junior finance staff.

Are you an experienced Finance Manager or hands‑on Financial Controller looking to take ownership of a finance function within a successful and growing manufacturing business?

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this broad and commercially focused role covers management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, financial controls and business partnering. You will lead a small finance team while providing accurate financial information and commercial insight to support business decisions.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you will oversee the day‑to‑day finance function and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting.

Working closely with senior management and operational teams, you will provide commercial insight, strengthen financial controls and identify opportunities to improve performance, systems and processes. You will also support and develop the finance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day finance function and manage a small finance team.
• Produce monthly management accounts, including the P&L, balance sheet and supporting analysis.
• Take ownership of the month‑end and year‑end reporting processes.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management activities.
• Provide variance analysis and commercial insight to support business performance.
• Analyse profitability, manufacturing costs, stock, margins and operational performance.
• Manage working capital and oversee debtor, creditor, banking and cash management processes.
• Support strategic planning through financial modelling and scenario analysis.
• Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Act as the key contact for external accountants, auditors and banking partners.
• Identify and implement improvements to systems, processes and financial reporting.
• Mentor and develop junior members of the finance team.

About You

We are looking for an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with commercial awareness and a proactive, hands‑on approach.

• Qualified by experience, part or fully qualified Accountant
• Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similarly responsible position.
• Strong finance experience gained within the manufacturing sector or similar.
• Excellent management accounting and financial reporting skills.
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Knowledge of stock accounting, product costing, work in progress and margin analysis.
• Experience leading, supporting or developing finance team members.
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders.
• A practical and proactive approach, with excellent attention to detail.
