Job summary

CMA Recruitment Group is recruiting on behalf of a Portsmouth-based manufacturing business for an experienced Finance Manager. This predominantly office-based role is 25 hours per week and offers flexible part-time hours, with a real chance to support the CFO and contribute to day-to-day finance, reporting and process improvements.

The role involves overseeing ledgers, VAT returns, month-end, and liaising with payroll providers and auditors.

Qualifications

• Hands-on accounting or finance management experience in small/medium business.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero and advanced Excel.
• Experience with invoice discounting and asset-based lending exposure is advantageous.
• VAT knowledge and experience with outsourced payroll providers.

Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of a small-to-medium-sized manufacturing business based in Portsmouth, this is a predominantly office-based opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of a broad finance function and provide valuable support to the CFO. The role offers flexible part-time hours, with an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution across day-to-day finance, reporting and process improvement.

What will the Finance Manager role involve?

• Oversee core sales and purchase ledger activity, maintaining accurate records and supporting effective cash collection and supplier payments
• Manage the day-to-day administration and reconciliation of the invoice discounting facility
• Coordinate the month-end process, including journals, management accounts, reconciliations and supporting commentary
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and help maintain compliance with relevant statutory requirements
• Liaise with the outsourced payroll provider and support year-end audit preparation, reporting and wider finance projects

Suitable Candidate for the Finance Manager vacancy:

• Previous experience in a hands-on accounting or finance management role within a small or medium-sized business
• Strong working knowledge of Xero and advanced Excel capability
• Practical experience with invoice discounting, with asset-based lending exposure advantageous
• Sound VAT knowledge, including preparation of VAT returns, and experience working with outsourced payroll providers
• Organised, accurate and confident working autonomously while constructively improving processes across the business
