Job summary

A growing importer company in Manchester is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge and experience in management accounting. Key responsibilities include preparing management accounts, managing ledgers, and creating financial reports. Excellent Excel skills and the ability to work independently are essential. This full-time position offers a salary between £35,000 and £38,000 per annum in an office-based setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar Finance Manager or Bookkeeper role with Management Accounting experience.
  • Ability to manage payroll, ledgers, VAT returns, and month-end processes.
  • Knowledge of office procedures including some HR administration duties.

Finance Manager

Salary: £35,000-£38,000 per annum
Location: Cheetham Hill, Manchester.
Job Type: Full-time / Office Based

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager / Management Accountant / Bookkeeper to oversee day‑to‑day financial operations within a sole finance position. Our company is a continually growing importer of products sold to retailers, offering a varied and hands‑on environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, and cashflow forecasts
  • Manage ledgers, credit control, invoicing, journals, and reconciliations
  • Process payroll for approximately 20 staff and handle VAT returns
  • Lead month‑end and year‑end processes – support of external accountant
  • Create weekly/monthly financial reports for the Senior Management Team and drive process improvements where required
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, HMRC, and external stakeholders
  • Support the MD with office administration and HR administrative tasks
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in a similar Finance Manager, Bookkeeper with Management Accounting experience
  • Strong accounting knowledge and excellent Excel skills
  • Experience using financial software (Xero or Opera preferred)
  • Highly organised, accurate, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, flexible attitude
  • Knowledge of office procedures; some HR administration duties are included
