Job description

Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Bexley to assist with the appointment of a Finance Manager on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at the client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay:

£452.61 - £631.32 per Day

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the Council's accounts are produced in compliance with all statutory accounting requirements.
• Provide technical accounting advice to senior management, Members, and Finance staff.
• Utilize financial data analytics to review revenue and capital information for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Manage key reconciliations around balance sheet accounts and ensure timely clearance of suspense accounts.
• Produce and submit VAT and tax returns on behalf of the Council within required deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Qualified CCAB Accountant or equivalent relevant finance qualification.
• Participation in Continuing Professional Development.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Detailed knowledge of accounting requirements related to capital and revenue expenditure, and strategic financial influences of the authority.
• Experience in accounting and budgeting, with a good understanding of local government finance frameworks, accounting principles and standards, statutory requirements, and relevant codes of practice.
• Knowledge of major issues facing local government, understanding of national policy context, requirements, and future directions.
• Experience attending Member Committees and other corporate/board meetings.
• Experience in financial appraisals, modeling techniques, and developing business cases.

• You must have the right to work in the UK.
