Qualifications

• Finalist or recently qualified CIMA/ACCA (QBE considered)
• Strong financial management and management accounting skills
• Experience with accounts payable/receivable processes
• Proficient in cost control measures and cashflow management
• Excellent Excel skills, SQL reporting experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the MD to enhance operational performance across all functions
• Produce monthly management accounts with key insights for management meetings
• Lead collaborative budgeting across departments
• Manage cash flow to ensure strong liquidity
• Conduct margin analysis and pricing reviews to protect profitability
• Prepare financial reporting to the MD (P&L, Balance Sheet, budgets)
• Support accounts receivable with debt management
• Support accounts payable with supplier payments and invoicing queries
• Submit payroll to the accountants
• Contracts management for utilities, insurance, fleet and services
• Customer pricing management across systems
• Assist external accounts with year end

Medlock Partners are delighted to be working with our client, a privately owned, market leading SME business based in the South Liverpool area as they look to appoint an ambitious Finance Manager in an extremely hands on and variable remit.

Reporting directly into the Managing Director and managing a small finance function, the Finance Manager will take full responsibility for the financial reporting activities for this UK based distribution business, implementing and ensuring robust financial controls and supporting the strategic decision making.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Manager Duties & Responsibilities

• Worked closely with the Managing Director on a daily basis to enhance operational performance across all business functions.
• Management accounts — Produced comprehensive monthly management accounts and presented key insights at management meetings, clearly demonstrating the true cost impact of departmental expenditure.
• Budgeting process — Developed a collaborative budgeting framework incorporating input from all managers, increasing accountability and improving financial ownership across departments.
• Cash flow management, ensuring strong cash management across the business
• Margin analysis Conduct ongoing margin analysis and pricing reviews to maintain competitiveness and protect profitability in a volatile market environment.
• Financial Reporting to the Managing Director – P&L, Balance Sheet, Departmental Budgets, Stock Valuation
• Accounts receivable – supporting Credit Control with debt management
• Accounts payable - Dealing with supplier payments and supporting Accounts Payable with invoicing queries
• Submitting Payroll to the Accountants
• Contracts management - responsible for utilities, insurance, fleet and services
• Customer pricing management - Making sure customer pricing is kept updated both on the system and external customer procurement systems
• Supporting external accounts with year end

Experience & Skills Required

• Finanlist level or recently qualified CIMA/ACCA (QBE will be considered)
• Strong financial management and management accounting skills
• Experience with accounts payable/recievable processes
• Proficient in cost control measures and cashflow management strategies
• Excellent Excel skills, ideally practical experience of SQL

The ideal candidate will be a technically competent, Finalist CIMA/ACA /ACCA or recently qualified Management Accountant who is ready for their next step as Finance Manager. Candidates must be comfortable working in an SME setting and MUST demonstrate excellent Excel skills (preferably with SQL reporting experience).

This role would suit either a candidate currently working at Finance Manager level or a strong Management Accountant looking for a step into there 1st Finance Manager remit however, candidates qualified by experience with relevant industry experience will also be considered.

The successful candidate will enjoy full autonomy in their position however, will have direct contact with the Managing Director, giving them full visibility across the business.
