Morgan McKinley is seeking a technically strong Finance Manager for a growing PE-backed education business in London. The role focuses on financial reporting, technical accounting, consolidation and controls, with exposure to PE shareholders and lenders.

You will manage the monthly close, group reporting and debt-related accounting, while supporting budgeting, forecasting and M&A activity in a multi-entity environment.

Qualifications

  • ACA/ACCA qualified with strong technical accounting background.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, month end close and balance sheet control.
  • Solid understanding of consolidation, statutory reporting and technical accounting.
  • Experience with debt, covenant calculations and lender reporting is desirable.
  • PE-backed, acquisitive, or multi-entity environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close process including management accounts, reconciliations and key entries.
  • Prepare Group consolidation and financial reporting, including intercompany eliminations.
  • Oversee balance sheet integrity: reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, provisions, fixed assets.
  • Coordinate statutory accounts and year-end audit processes.
  • Support UK GAAP / IFRS applications and technical accounting issues.
  • Prepare debt schedules, interest calculations and financing-related accounting.
  • Prepare covenant calculations and lender reporting (leverage headroom).
  • Produce regular PE investor and Board reporting.
  • Own key financial controls across the Group.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting with data-driven insights.
  • Assist M&A activity, including due diligence and integration.

Job description

We are seeking a technically strong Finance Manager to join the finance function of a growing, PE backed education business.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the role will have a strong focus on financial reporting, technical accounting, financial control, consolidation, debt reporting and statutory compliance, with exposure to the Group's PE shareholders and lenders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ownership of the monthly close process, including management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and review of key accounting entries.
  • Preparation of Group consolidation and financial reporting, including intercompany accounting and eliminations.
  • Oversight of balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, provisions and fixed assets.
  • Preparation and review of statutory accounts and coordination of the year-end audit.
  • Supporting the application of UK GAAP / IFRS and assessing technical accounting matters.
  • Preparation of debt schedules, interest calculations and financing-related accounting.
  • Preparation of debt covenant calculations and lender reporting, including leverage and covenant headroom.
  • Preparation of regular PE investor and Board reporting.
  • Ownership of key financial controls and accounting processes across the Group.
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process, including review of underlying financial data and assumptions.
  • Supporting M&A activity, including acquisition accounting, financial due diligence and integration of acquired businesses.
  • Working with external auditors, tax advisers, lenders and other professional advisers.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the quality, efficiency and control of the Group's finance processes and reporting.
Candidate Profile
  • ACA / ACCA qualified, ideally with a strong technical accounting background.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, month end close and balance sheet control.
  • Good understanding of consolidation, statutory reporting and technical accounting.
  • Experience with debt, covenant calculations and lender reporting highly desirable.
  • Ideally experience within a PE backed, acquisitive or multi-entity environment.

This role would suit an accountant looking for a technically focused position with broad exposure to Group reporting, consolidation, technical accounting, debt and PE-backed financial reporting.
