Job description

Prospectus are delighted to be supporting our client in their search for a Finance Manager. The organisation is an arts charity that commissions socially engaged art, generous architecture and bold infrastructure that respond to civic needs and local contexts. Pushing the boundaries of existing practice, they believe that transformative and radical ideas can derive from working long-term with local communities. They are looking for a Finance Manager who can combine strong financial stewardship with meaningful purpose and play a vital role in their long-term success and sustainability. This is a part-time role paying between £45,000-£48,000 FTE, on a two-year fixed-term contract, working two days per week at their London office.

You will be a strong finance professional, ideally with experience in the charity sector, who is confident managing a broad range of financial responsibilities. Bringing experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, management accounting and year-end processes, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day finance operations while ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust controls and compliance with relevant regulations. You'll also be able to communicate financial information clearly and effectively, supporting senior leaders and trustees to make informed decisions.

You will bring a sound understanding of charity finance and Charity SORP, alongside experience of payroll, pensions, PAYE and financial compliance. Whether qualified or part-qualified, you'll have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and experience using financial systems such as QuickBooks, Sage or similar. Organised and self-motivated, you'll be able to manage competing priorities, work independently and identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems that support the organisation's ongoing work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day financial management of the organisation.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes and maintain strong financial controls.
  • Oversee payroll, pensions, PAYE and associated reconciliations.
  • Produce financial forecasts, management accounts and budget reports.
  • Monitor cash flow and support effective financial planning.
  • Prepare papers and financial reports for trustees and committee meetings.
  • Lead on year-end accounts preparation and coordinate the annual audit process.
  • Maintain and develop finance systems, identifying opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Provide financial information to support fundraising and organisational growth initiatives.
