Job summary

ICAEW in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, is seeking a Finance Manager for a small charity. You will lead a finance team, own day-to-day financial management, prepare accounts, year-end and audit, and deliver timely management information to the CEO and trustees.

The role offers circa £45,000, highly flexible hybrid working with one day per week in the office, and the chance to make a tangible impact in the local community.

Finance Manager - Charity

A wonderful opportunity has arisen to join a small, community-focused charity in Southend as their Finance Manager. This is the No.1 role in Finance, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the non-executive board and trustees. You'll lead a small team comprising one Finance Assistant and take ownership of the charity's day-to-day and strategic financial management.

• Preparing financial and statutory accounts
• Leading the year-end process and audit preparation
• Producing bi-monthly management accounts
• Providing clear financial information, insight and reporting to the CEO and trustees
• Attending monthly trustee meetings
• Managing and supporting a Finance Assistant
• Maintaining strong financial controls, processes and governance
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and wider financial planning
• Helping the organisation make the best use of its resources and continue delivering maximum impact for its community

About youWe're looking for an experienced finance professional who enjoys taking ownership and wants a role where they can genuinely add value and see the impact of their work.You'll be comfortable operating as the senior finance lead within a smaller organisation, preparing accounts and management information, supporting year-end and audit, and communicating financial information confidently to senior stakeholders and trustees.Previous charity or not-for-profit experience would be particularly advantageous.
