Job summary

Jackson Hogg is partnering with a manufacturing business based in Cumbria to appoint a newly created Finance Manager. You will oversee day-to-day finance operations, drive robust controls and deliver timely management information to support site performance.

Reporting to the General Manager, the role combines hands-on finance leadership with a focus on cash flow, payroll, VAT and month-end reporting within an SME environment. AAT qualification or higher is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience managing the finance function in an SME.
• Strong grasp of management accounts, cash flow, and controls.
• Excellent Excel skills and stakeholder communication.
• AAT qualification or higher level qualification, or qualified by experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records and strong controls across the site.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Credit Control activities.
• Manage cash flow, daily banking and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Process monthly payroll and HMRC submissions.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting for senior stakeholders.
• Provide financial analysis to support operational decisions.
• Identify opportunities for cost-control and business improvement.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Support year-end audit requirements and statutory compliance.
• Manage and develop a small finance and administration team.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a broad, hands-on role with responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day finance operations of the site, ensuring robust financial controls and delivering timely management information to support business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure strong financial controls are in place
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Credit Control activities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting for senior stakeholders
• Provide financial analysis and insight to support operational decision-making

About You

• Previous experience managing the finance function within an SME environment
• Strong understanding of management accounts, cash flow and financial controls
